Hello everyone, all the students who are pursuing M.Tech and all those who want to pursue the course from AKTU need to focus on this more. A committee was constituted by Vice Chancellor to few days ago to rationalize and reduce the number of specialization to make M.Tech programs more useful for the students. The committee held in Noida and Lucknow campus of University. The committee was to finalize the M.Tech Specializations recommendation for sessoin 2016-17.
The circular uploaded by the University regarding the committee says:
“It was observed that a large number of specializations with very similar nomenclature and course contents had been approved and running in various colleges. Many of these courses were being run at only one or two colleges with very poor admissions against the approved intake. This has made the admission process and conduct of University examinations very complex and laborious. The issue was discussed and it was resolved that there was definite need to rationalize and reduce these specializations to make the program more useful to the students as well as to facilitate efficient conduct of examinations and admissions by University”. After all the discussions following decisions were made.
- The number of specializations offered in each engineering branch are to be reduced based on the past admission trends and to simplify admission process and conduct of university examinations. The specializations recommended for affiliation and admission in academic year 2016-17 are placed in Appendix A.
- The M.Tech courses and specializations offered exclusively by Autonomous Institutions/ Colleges may be left to the discretion of the respective institutions.
- AICTE will be approached by the scheme of specializations retained for affiliation and requested to convert existing approvals in sub-specializations to the more generic courses as proposed.
All the affiliated colleges running M.Tech programs in the sub-specializations that have been grouped under major specializations are requested to convert their programs to the major specializations. A character of sub-specializations could be retained through selection appropriate electives, in the major programs.
The colleges need to give their consent for adhering to the proposed M.Tech programs by 29/03/2016 through e-mail to registrar@aktu.ac.in. If consent will not be received by due date, it will be presumed that Institute is not willing to run PG programs in the academic year 2016-17.
