Soft and hard magnetic materials are two different types of materials that exhibit different magnetic properties.
Soft Magnetic Materials
The Soft magnetic materials have high magnetic permeability, meaning they can be easily magnetized and demagnetized. They have low coercivity, meaning they require a small amount of magnetic field to become magnetized and they lose their magnetism easily. Soft magnetic materials have low remanence, which is the residual magnetic field remaining after removing the magnetizing field. Soft magnetic materials are used in applications where magnetic fields need to be rapidly changing, such as in transformers, motors, and inductors. They are also used for magnetic shielding to protect electronic devices from electromagnetic interference.
Hard Magnetic Materials
The Hard magnetic materials, on the other hand, are difficult to magnetize and demagnetize. They have high coercivity, meaning they require a large amount of magnetic field to become magnetized and they retain their magnetism even after the magnetic field is removed. Hard magnetic materials have high remanence, meaning they can retain a strong magnetic field even without an external magnetic field. Hard magnetic materials are used in permanent magnets, magnetic data storage, and other applications where a strong magnetic field is needed to be maintained over a long period of time.
