Anti-national activities again happening in our country as students of NIT Srinagar are not allowed to hoist tricolor flag inside the campus. Majority local resident students of NIT Srinagar are praising Pakistan and attacking pro-Indians who are in favor of Indian patriotism.
It all started when West Indies beat Indian Cricket team in the semifinal match of ICC World Cup and majority students of NIT Srinagar started hoisting Pakistan’s national flag to show the happiness of India’s lost. Then there are some patriotic Indian student who didn’t favor all this and raised India’s flag, and the scenario starts as it is being done since Independence. Most of the local faculties are also with the students who were chanting anti-national lines. Horrible thing is when cops entered the campus to solve the issue, instead what they really done is they started beating the ones who were showing patriotism for their country. Now the outstation students wants to leave the campus but they are allowed to do so as cops are not letting them to go to their local resident.
Now the students want to host the Indian flag everyday in the campus and also want to hoist it in the main entrance of NIT Srinagar. They are also demanding to shift their campus in Jammu and also building a temple inside the campus.
A three-member team of human resources development (HRD) ministry, which arrived here on Wednesday morning, held talks with the agitating students to defuse the tension. In Surat, HRD minister Smriti Irani said she had spoken to Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti who assured her that safety of all students will be ensured.”My officers are in touch with the agitating students and their family members. One or two students said they wanted to go back home for which my ministry is making arrangements,” she said.
The developments prompted the NIT authorities to close the campus on Saturday but reopened it on Monday. On Tuesday evening, the outstation students tried to march out of the campus saying they wanted to return to their homes.
A senior police official, who attempted to pacify them, was heckled and pushed around resulting in a mild lathicharge in which four students sustained injuries.
