Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. Well, I know you are now relieved from your exams. So I thought to share some wonderful story with you. This is the startup age. People are moving towards startups. India is now more towards producing startups. This culture is being derived just because of peoples who have got guts to take entrepreneurial risks in their life. Indian youth is so excited now a days to become a Job Creator than to simply become an another Job seeker.
With the help of UPTU Khabar, I would like to share you the story of a student who chosed to be an entrepreneur while he just pursuing his graduation. Let me introduce you with Anshul. He is a 2nd year student in DU. He founded Fabence.com . Read the full interview of Anshul.
Q1. Hi Anshul, Before we start dicsussion about your startup, We would like to a little about you.
I am a second year student at Shri Ram College of Commerce, pursuing Bachelor of Commerce. The entrepreneurship bug hit me at a very early stage. I always believed that creating something used by millions of people, something that solves a problem is what I wanted to do in life and entrepreneurship is what gives my life meaning. I am a big fan of football and House music.
Q2. Tell us about your Startup ? How is it different from the others in the same genre ?
Fabence.com is India’s first personalized fashion discovery engine and shopping assistant. The problem that we aim to solve is the inability of a user to discover a fashion product in an easier and personalized manner. Currently there is no focus in the market as to how a user is discovering a fashion product and how one can help users discover the best suited product. At the very basic level Fabence allows users to discover fashion products from various sites (Flipkart, Myntra, Limeroad) on one platform. What differentiates us our approach of solving this problem which is to bring together technology and fashion and provide a much more technology and design intensive platform built on the pillars of innovation, intelligence and fashion. For us listing products from different sites is not enough and this has led us to focus on every detail of the product allowing us to improve user experience . This approach has allowed to differentiate ourselves in various aspects.
Fabence has implemented technologies that allow us to have most detailed set of filters in the entire market and a category based quick search that not neither yebhi or roposo have that allows users to do a free text search and get results of exactly what they are looking for without clicking anywhere, this not only eases the ability of a user to narrow down on a specific product but for those looking for window shopping it’s a great experience too.
Not just discovery, Fabence aims at assisting a user in their shopping journey allowing them to make a better buying decision and this has led to various firsts in the market such as such as an Inbuilt fashion stylist, that is an intelligence based algorithm that suggests products that would look good depending on a user’s attributes and product they are thinking of buying in real time or hunt with friends that allows users to discover fashion products online in real time just like they do in a mall or hunt with friends that allows users to discover fashion products online in real time just like they do in a mall.
Q3. You are so young. What inspired you to start this beautiful startup at this age ?
As mentioned before the entrepreneurship bug bit very early on. Very less people know that I actually tried to start a company when I was in grade 10th. Fabence was born because of a personal problem that I had faced in buying a fashion product and I later realized that there is no proper focus towards the fashion discovery problem in the market. There is no focus on how a user is discovering a product and there is no shopping assistance given to a user and since there are so many sites coming up every day fashion discovery would be a huge problem. I knew this was something I had to solve and well as they say rest is history.
Q4. How did you choose your team ? Any startup can be successful only due to a good team. How do you see your team playing a role in Fabence.
Well choosing the right people who can help you fulfill your vision and work together through the tough times is always difficult, however I was able to create team that was very diversely skilled. I wanted people who were energetic, young and most importantly believed in what Fabence stands for. Our team is what is pushing Fabence forward, there can be thousands of ideas but if there is no ability to implement those ideas are a waste. The team at Fabence is constantly working towards solving the fashion discovery problem in new and innovative ways and the team is very important for our vision
Q5. Where do you see your startup in coming 5 years ?
Five years down the line I see Fabence as the number one fashion discovery site in India having 10% of the online fashion market in India in terms of GMV and probably look at expansion plans to overseas market.
Q6. We respect your vision and your working approach. This entrepreneural spark is need of time for the younger generation. What message would you like to give to the students of UPTU on Entrepreneurship ?
I would want to say three words that stay very close to me, those are: Dream, Believe, Execute. These words are what have guided me through my journey. Having a dream is not enough unti you believe in it and believing in the dream is not enough until you have executed it. I feel age, capital, experience are all secondary things, the first and foremost thing needs to passion. If you have passion for the problem you are solving things would eventually turn out right. On a closing note I would like to quote an extremely inspiring dialogue from pursuit of Happiness ‘ You got a dream, You gotta protect it’.
Q7. Thanks a lot for sharing your valable time and tips with our readers. Do you have anything to say for UPTU Khabar ?
I feel what UPTU Khabar is doing is extremely commendable and I give them my wishes.
UPTU Khabar also wishes Anshul for good future ahead.
