The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and technology.
- The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) and other government agencies.
- Many public sectors have also started accepting the score of GATE for recruiting engineers.
- It is one of the most competitive examinations in India.
- Candidates with good GATE score are preferred in private sectors over candidates who are simple graduate.
GATE score is valid for the period of three years. Mostly each year the pattern of GATE paper changes and it is disclosed with the application form of that year.
