Q. How do you feel being the topper in your college?
A.It obviously feels nice especially when we know how erratic the marking scheme of UPTU is. Although when my friends tease me and pull my leg regarding me getting so good marks I pretend to be modest and humble(laughs off) but inside it does really feel good. It is important to have a good academic record as it acts a plus point to your C.V. The competition in our college is too good and many students secured good marks especially E.C. students in our college who work really hard and secure very good marks. It was a proud moment to get felicitated in our college for my first year result when I secured an aggregate percentage of around 85% in first year.
Q. What is the main motivation for you to study and score these classic marks?
A.To be honest since you really want a frank interview (laughs again) I really feel motivated to get good marks because I like working hard and gaining practical knowledge of Computer Engineering concepts especially web development and Data Structures. Moreover the competition is so hard these days and since we are UPTU students we need to be extra careful as in off campus placements mostly students with 80% marks or more are preferred by good and large IT companies.
Q. What is your dream and what way will you choose to achieve it?
A. My ultimate dream is to set up my own MNC (Multi National Company).For doing that initially I aspire to get placed in a good company so that I can get an idea of how the employees have to function and respond to pressure situations. Obviously setting up and running a MNC for the long run is not an easy task but I hope I can pursue my dream with my broad vision and hard work. We will see how it goes.
Q. What are the methods you follow to achieve this milestone in academics?
A.I follow a regular study pattern from day one. You cannot get high percentage until you are regular with your studies. Moreover I take labs very seriously. I won’t take names but many students in our class score marks more than 80% but have little practical knowledge. All they do is mug up. It won’t help in the long run. Another important thing is to write your answer scripts in end semester external exams in a good and neat handwriting. It is essential as in our university marking scheme is really bad. Probably each answer copy is checked within 2 minutes. I draw a line in my answer script after answering every question to aid the paper checker. I have been doing it since 1stsemester. Another important thing is to score good internal marks. They play a very important role in increasing your percentage.
Q. Can an ordinary student achieve this milestone? If yes then how. Please give some tips to our readers that will be useful to them.
A.Of course any student can achieve it. I would not say that being a topper is a very big milestone since life and career requires much more than that. If any ordinary student works hard, studies regularly, analyses pattern of questions asked and writes answer scripts neatly he can get good marks. Moreover some of my friends mock me that I do classes in college seriously and my attendance was 87% in last semester. But since I was quite regular in classes I saved time as I didn’t have to understand the concepts on my own which would take much more time. So be as regular as you can, I know it’s sometimes monotonous and tedious to attend classes from 8:30 am but it does pay off in the end. Moreover it teaches you to become regular and resilient as when you would do a job you would obviously have to be regular and be time bound and punctual.
Q. What do you feel about UPTU KHABAR. Please give your rating to this community.
A.I got to know of UPTU KHABAR from Facebook. I follow them on Facebook. I got to know about it for the first time after 3rd semester result. I think they give latest news about university events and do a decent job. They are good and I have seen those also engaging students in discussion through their Facebook posts. I have also seen them posting information regarding internship and job related opportunities for fresher’s and budding engineers like. I don’t know much details but I think it is run by a group of students and probably you can tell me more as you are trying for a trainee position there(laughs). I would probably give them a good rating since it is a nice venture by a group of students willing to help a large contingent of students in UPTU.
