Love them or hate them, it’s hard to get away from exams. Preparation before the exam day is a race against the clock as you sit at the desk and try to mug up all the important fact and figures.
One can never fell free from the examination and it’s process. So beneath are the examination tips and techniques that can be adopted before ,while and after the exam. This will lead to a better performance and help any student score more than expected marks.
Before your exams:-
1. Don’t Panic.
Before exam nervousness is natural and obvious. But one should not start panicking because later on while in the exam it leads to confusions and one is unable to think properly and answer the given questions correctly.
2. BE positive.
“Believe in yourself” is the most important thing one student should learn from the beginning. A good level of preparation for the exam is required. If one is prepared and quite confident- then it’s pretty sure one would definitely achieve the success. If you believe you can do it, then you can.
3. Plan your strategies.
Timetables and study plans is the next step involved. Make sure you know about the exam date sheet according to the course you are doing. Also , make sure to plan out a good strategy for how will you study before the exam. A sufficient time for revision should also be planned out so one don’t have to cram at the last minute. A proper timetable or schedule should be maintained. A regular reality check for your progress should be done. If you fall behind on your plan or timetable, work out how to get back on track. Study topic wise and in a proper format.
4. Study approach.
Some people prefer to study in silence, some like to work in the library and others prefer to work at home. Few like to make short notes, others prefer to mix topics/subjects. Students have also found that using key words, memory aids and practicing exam questions helps them prepare. So, Pick the approach that best suits you.
5. Don’t waste time.
One should not waste time on what’s already clear in your mind and can be revised quickly and easily during the revision time before exams. Rather, one should focus and implement his time on the concepts or topics which are unclear and unsure.
6. Don’t mix up things.
The best thing to do while being stressed or feeling anxious before exam is to go and have a word with your friends , parents or teachers. This would really help you to feel relaxed and you can continue to study without any stressful mind.
7.Check out previous years question paper.
It’s really necessary to know how one should write in his/her exam , how to manage time during exam i.e. how to calculate that one answer will require this much time and the other will require that much of time. Also, all the important details about the pattern of the examination paper should be gathered before hand. One should check for the previous years question papers, marking schemes and plan out his time management and word limit according to that.
8. Ask for help.
If you don’t understand something ask your friends, parents/guardians or your teacher for help. Take action to find out answers to problems.
9. Eat healthy, stay fit.
Junk food can make you feel inactive,heavy and might effect your memorizing capacity. You need to your mind active by eating healthily and regularly. Drink sufficient amount of water daily for it will avoid headaches, poor concentration.
During the exam:-
1.Stay relaxed.
Take several long, slow, deep breaths if you are feeling nervous. This way you will more energetic, positive , calm and stress free. Positive thinking is a must.
2. Staying in control.
If you start panicking because you can’t remember what to write. At that very moment, stop panicking , control your mind, clam down yourself. Put your pen down and take deep breath. Stop any kind of negative thoughts entering your mind.Try to recall it. Once, you are able to recall start writing your answer. But this should not consume all of your time. Time management is still very important. Move on to next question that you are sure about.
3. Read instructions and questions carefully.
On every question paper a “VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ” is given – read each question carefully and listen to instructions given by the invigilators. This is mandatory because reading questions perfectly helps you think about the correct question ans you can write down your answers in a more perfect way.
After the exam:-
1.Take a break.
Breathe a sigh of relief. Give yourself a break. Even after exam ,few students stress themselves and think about more points they could have made.
2. Stay positive.
After exam stress is also very common in students. To rectify this mess in your mind talk to your teachers ,friends, parents/guardians.Take their valuable advice and learn from them. Stop wasting time criticizing yourself. Focus on what you did right and learn from your mistakes. Don’t dwell on questions you think you didn’t do well . Also , don’t compare your performance with others- this might give you “Good-for-nothing” kind of feeling which is not required.
