Discrete structures are mathematical structures that are fundamentally composed of discrete elements. This means that the underlying set of a discrete structure is a set of discrete elements, which are usually points, lines, or other simple objects.
In contrast, continuous structures are composed of continuous elements, which can be thought of as points that are “smeared out“ over a space. The most familiar example of a continuous structure is a Euclidean space, which is composed of points that have a specific location in a plane.
The theory of logic is the study of the principles of correct reasoning. Logic is the science of the correct inference, or the correct way to draw conclusions from given premises.
